Foods That Reduces Back Pain

Making sure you’re getting enough calcium in your diet is very important and can reduce or eliminate back pain. When you are calcium deficient, your nerves can’t function properly. Since nerves control your muscles, the lack of proper functionality can be felt as pain. Foods with anti-inflammatory properties reduce inflammation throughout the body, including the back. Eating these foods can ease stiffness and pain in the back naturally.

Fruits and Vegetables

Naturally pigmented and brightly colored fruits and vegetables typically contain a number of vitamins that are essential in combating inflammation. Recommended fruits and vegetables include:

  • Cherries
  • Pineapple
  • Red grapes
  • Berries
  • Leafy greens (spinach, kale, collard greens)
  • Broccoli
  • Beets

Cold Water Fish

Oily cold water fish are rich in omega-3, which has been shown to reduce inflammation when prepared healthily. Common examples of cold water fish are:

  • Salmon
  • Tuna
  • Mackerel
  • Sardines

Herbs and Spices

Many spices and herbs have been shown to contain anti-inflammatory properties. Different spices and herbs interact with the immune system differently, and those that possess anti-inflammatory properties don’t always fight inflammation the same way. Some of the more popular and effective herbs and spices that do this include:

  • Ginger
  • Turmeric
  • Sage
  • Cinnamon
  • Clove
  • Garlic
  • Thyme
  • Herb teas
